Fraud Prevention Policy

01Fraud and deceptive activity are prohibited

Gadget Trade must not be used to obtain money, goods, credentials or personal information through deception. This includes fake receipts, false payment confirmations, impersonation, account takeover attempts, malicious links, fabricated product information and deliberate misrepresentation.

02Payment and credential safety

Gadget Trade will not ask users to disclose passwords, one-time authentication codes, card PINs, CVVs or similar payment secrets through ordinary support or marketplace messages. Users should use the official payment flow where it applies and treat requests to move payment to an unusual account or external channel as a warning sign.

03Suspicious activity signals

• Pressure to pay immediately or outside the expected checkout process.
• Requests for OTPs, PINs, passwords, card details or remote access.
• Fake screenshots, receipts or claims that a payment has already cleared.
• Listings with inconsistent model, condition, serial or ownership information.
• Links or messages designed to imitate Gadget Trade, banks, payment providers or Support.
• Attempts to bypass verification, marketplace controls or an account restriction.

04Report and preserve evidence

If you suspect fraud, report the account, listing or message through the available Gadget Trade reporting or Support flow. Keep the listing URL, transaction or order reference, relevant messages, receipts, screenshots and other evidence that may help a review. Do not delete important evidence before a dispute or safety review is complete.

05Safety review and enforcement

Gadget Trade may review relevant account, listing, communication, transaction and security information when reasonably necessary to investigate suspected fraud, protect users, resolve disputes or enforce marketplace policies. Accounts, listings or features may be restricted where the risk warrants action.

06Applicable law

This policy is a marketplace safety policy and does not replace applicable Nigerian law or the rights and remedies available under law. Gadget Trade may cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities where required.
